In 2001, Mrs. Radha Bhat began a small eatery on the terrace of her home in Vidya Nagar, Hubballi to serve simple, fresh fare to students and working professionals in the neighbourhood who were yearning for home cooked meals. Slowly, but surely, the reputation of her Konkani seafood preparations, the fish sourced from the coastal town of Honnavar, began to travel, attracting not just those in the area but also visitors from far flung cities and towns in North Karnataka. Staffed only by women barring Mrs. Bhatt’s husband and son, Only Fish is a definite must-visit when in the city for its Konkani homestyle seafood fare served at extremely economical prices, as I discovered one rainy evening.
