A blizzard in Chicago this week is forecast to bring a few inches of snow Thursday and Friday ahead of the Christmas holidays.The National Weather Service released a Winter Storm Watch for all of Chicago and northwest Indiana.
The alert is in effect from Thursday 9:00 a.m. to Saturday 6:00 a.m. for Kane, Kendall, Grundy, Livingston, and McHenry counties. For the rest of Chicago, the warning is in effect from Thursday afternoon until Saturday 6 am, with the warning starting at 3:00 pm. for Jasper and Newton counties in northwestern Indiana.
Meteorologists warn light snow could start Thursday afternoon, with the heaviest snow falling from Thursday evening into Friday.There is also information that strong winds can also lead to snowstorms from Thursday evening to Friday morning. Wind gusts can reach 50-60 mph, reducing visibility and potentially causing power outages.
