The Marvelous CHINA-NEPAL Tunnel Railway | ftx | China Technology #nepal #china #unitedkingdom

That’s where the challenges come in. Since we are talking about a landlocked country with extremely cold weather conditions and mountains all across, building a long and toughest railway becomes a problem.
First, the problem is international politics.
Nepal will no longer depend on India if this railway project is built. That’s where India feels the pressure. Without China, India could have economic relations with Nepal on Indian terms. Since Nepal was landlocked and could not access the ocean for trade, it had to accept India’s terms. That way, Nepal faced losses while India could secure its interest.
But after the China-Nepal Railway project, India no longer had its monopoly. That’s why India is against this project, but it can do nothing. When China establishes relations with a country and then converts them into economic relations, it doesn’t allow any country to influence the ongoing project.
Simply put, China will ensure the railway project is completed as decided no matter what India says or does. This project means everything to China since it’s a part of the Road and Belt initiative. When a project has ties with the mega Road and Belt initiative, China cannot compromise there.
And why should it compromise? According to the World Bank, the Belt and Road Initiative will bring $1.6 trillion every year—from which the partner countries would get shares as well.

Not only that, this project is valuable for Nepal since it will give it a free market leading to China. Nepal could not only use the railway for transportation but to send and receive goods that were not possible earlier. Nepal can connect with the outside world using this railway because China has become the trading hub.
Nepal would get the chance to raise its new industries, and China would present it with not only markets but also technology for that as well.
But the question remains—how will the railway project be constructed in harsh conditions?
Nepal has mountains, and as the topography says, building any project there is dangerous. But China has solutions for that. The biggest problem is the difficult route. Since more than 40 mountain-like structures came in the way of the railway, finding a reliable solution was the key.
Mountains stood in the way. China could either construct a railway around the mountain or dig a long tunnel through these mountains. If the railway is constructed around the mountains, it poses lingering threats. For example, land sliding can block the railway line and can prove deadly if the train is on the way.
Therefore, this option had to be ruled out. But the second option was quite difficult. Digging a tunnel through the Himalayas was a challenge. The Chinese workers could not dig the tunnels manually in extreme weather conditions. Plus, dynamite could also not be used to create a cavity in the mountains that could be used as a tunnel. Therefore, China decided to use its heavy shielding machine that dug tunnels without requiring human interference.
