Wet rooms like bathrooms and kitchens are often the first to show signs of wear, with discoloured grout, worn sealant and even mould spots if the room isn’t well ventilated.

Protect the room from mould. In such a humid setting, mould is rife – first, ensure that any mould is removed from the area then use a Sika mould resistant, sanitary grade silicone sealant like Sikasil® or Sikacryl® for best results.

Swap out old fittings and use a good sealant. When waterproofing, always observe inter-coat times as applying a subsequent coat over an incomplete cured previous coat can greatly affect the performance of the membrane and the time it takes to completely cure. Ensure good ventilation and air circulation around the application to ensure drying efficiency. Generally, a fan is adequate to provide circulation. Hot dry conditions will accelerate waterproofing cure times and reduce inter-coat periods. Sika Sanitary Sealants for Bathrooms
