HORMONE BLOCKING MEDICATION & BONE MINERAL DENSITY

Hormone Blocking Medication (HBM) is a BIG topic of conversation in my clinic. And understandably so. Research shows that taking HBM can help reduce risk of recurrence and extend survival after Breast Cancer.

However, for many women taking this medication can come with fairly intense side effects. Examples include hot flushes, sexual dysfunction, joint and bone pain, and significant impact on sleep. A lot of women end up ceasing the medication due to the impact on their quality of life.

I strongly believe we need better delivery of information on HBM and how side effects can be effectively managed. In this video I discuss The Breast Cancer Thrivership Program that I co-founded in 2020 and the last Education Session on HBM. I also dive into how Bone Mineral Density can be affected with HBM and what you can do about it.
