80th Anniversary of HMAS Sydney II sinking commemorated in Geraldton

The City of Geraldton commemorated the 80th anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Sydney II at a ceremony attended by Government, Defence officials and members of the community.
HMAS Sydney II was sunk in a battle with the German ship HSK Kormoran off the coast of Western Australia on 19 November 1941. The final resting place of both ships was not discovered until 2008.
