The analog gauges in old Fords are anything but precise. They only give you a vague range from "cold" to "hot", or from "empty" to "full". How do you verify that they're giving you accurate readings, or diagnose problems that arise?

Enter the GT-FORD-1 gauge tester from Desert Classic Parts. You can get yours from West Coast Classic Cougar: https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/17702/31802/gauge-tester-repro-1967-1968-1969-1970-1971-1972-1973-mercury-cougar-ford-mustang.html

This handy tool will work on all 1956 to 1983 Ford products. Works with Fuel, Temperature and Oil Pressure Gauges. Also verifies that the Instrument Voltage Regulator is working. Allows you to test High, Medium, and Low settings to verify the correct function of all components.

In this video, I try it out on my 1968 Mercury Cougar, and find out that my Temperature gauge is out of calibration, my Temperature sending unit gives too high of a reading, and my Fuel gauge is working properly. It's already proved its value, and I highly recommend it for any vintage FoMoCo vehicle owner!
