Emraan Hashmi: Music gives film head-start, doesn't guarantee super hit, Zeher not just erotic angle

Emraan Hashmi: "It's got great music. The way we had tracks for a murder. Slightly off-beatish. The rest are situational tracks. Two very nice tracks. I think it has what it takes to make it big. Does not divert from the story. It was story-telling. Goes along with it. Very good tracks. When you have the audience liking songs in a film, pre-release, when they go out and buy the album, if they find the music appealing, it adds up to your film. They would want to go and see the film for that particular song. It gives the film a head-start, but it does not guarantee that it will be a super hit. Story-telling, music. They go hand in hand. In Murder, everything went hand in hand. Every department of the film excelled in its own way. Everything was new, it was novel."

Zeher : A Love Story (transl. Poison) is a 2005 Indian Hindi-language mystery thriller film directed by debutant Mohit Suri and produced by Mahesh Bhatt. The film features Emraan Hashmi, Shamita Shetty and Udita Goswami. It is an adaptation of the 2003 American film Out of Time.

In a small town in Goa steeped in azure seas and sultry secrets, the chief of local police station, Siddharth (Emran Hashmi) finds himself caught in the midst of a storm and is about to get blown away.

Siddharth, who is going through a divorce with his wife, Sonia (Shamita Shetty) whom he still loves, finds himself involved with a local married woman named Anna (Udita Goswami). Unable to cope with the pressures of his wife's success who is in the special police force, he continues his secret relationship with Anna.

Things get even more complicated when Siddharth realizes that Anna's husband, Sean (Sameer Kochhar) is a wife beater and Anna is dying from cancer. Being a good soul, Siddharth does not have it in him to abandon this woman who seems to have given him some affection in recent times.
