China's leading coal-producing province of Shaanxi is stepping up efforts to ensure the key demand for electricity and coal supplies can be met through the critical winter months and into next spring.
The northwestern province is working to deliver 39 million tons of coal in the fourth quarter of 2021 as the country braces for colder temperatures and greater energy needs.
As one of the leading companies, the Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group (Shanmei Group) has been tasked with the mission of providing 12.85 million tons of coal, accounting for nearly 33 percent of the whole province's output capacity.
With annual output capacity totaling around 70 million tons, the Northern Shaanxi Mining Co., Ltd. under the Shanmei Group's has sought to optimize its production process from all perspectives to meet this vital task in the months ahead.
To ensure smooth transportation of the all-important supply, traffic police have been arranged to monitor the key roads connecting coal mines with other cities. Officers have been dispatched along an important stretch of the No.337 national highway in Shaanxi, which has a daily capacity of between 5,000 to 8,000 vehicles.
In recent days, over 30,000 trucks loaded with newly-produced coal have been able to pass through this route, with police guiding drivers to get through quickly.

连日来，民警引导司机快速通过，已有3万多辆装新煤的货车顺利通过这条路线。
