As part of redoing three of the intersections on the very busy Belmont St. in Brockton Massachusetts, the new traffic light equipment includes the Campbell Company's Guardian APS pushbuttons! These are their current line of accessible pedestrian buttons and are very new, and replace the Advisor Guide line (as I've shown before, installed at four intersections near here.) Despite the intersection's pedestrian crossing signals changing for all crosswalks at once while the vehicular signals are red (as is typical of Brockton's intersections), the Guardian pushbuttons still call out the crosswalk's street name facing the button, and so during a walk phase only the buttons for said crosswalk will vibrate and play the "Walk sign is on to cross..." message. They even have ambient volume detectors that raise or lower the volume of the tones and messages depending on the level of background noise! The pedestrian signals themselves are typical of new installs in this area, with McCain 16" housings and GE GT1 LED countdown signal inserts (I'm especially glad Belmont St. is getting more countdown pedestrian signals, given how dangerous it can be for pedestrians), and the clearance/flashing phase on the new signals is twice as long as it was on the old pedestrian signals (single 12" pedestrian heads with GE LED hand/man units).
