There's a new squad in town and they want you! | Trucking Answers

Variant trucking, a division of US Xpress Trucking, has a new idea and they want you! Here is the deal, they want their drivers to be ambassadors, just like the people that work at the State Department! Then, those ambassadors share the Variant experience to everyone. Friends, family, homeless people on the street, other drivers at truck stops, all over social media, pamphlets on urinals and just everywhere. Then, when a driver comes on they are in that person's squad! Nice. The more people you get in your squad the more you make because you are paid for every mile they drive! That's correct. I assume you also all get matching shirts and have a secret handshake. When you all enter a terminal you snap your fingers in unison and sing. I jest but here is the real problem with the Variant squad idea. It sounds very pyramid-ish, like Amway and all these other places. That does not mean it is not allowed. I don't want new drivers there bullied or cajoled into staying because their squad leader wants the money. The job of keeping drivers should be the employer, not some ambassador. If an employer treated its drivers better they could keep them longer and word of mouth would be free. That is called organic reach, something most companies have yet to figure out. Are you a squad member? Let me know your secret handshake!
