
Spoken English Course- Day 4| Practical Way Of Learning Non-Finites| Infinitive,Gerund,Participle

In this session learners of spoken English will learn how to use non-finites in spoken English. In the free course for spoken English , Vinit sir will teach important concepts of all the non-finites like gerund, infinitive, present- participle & past participle.
Most of the learners of English speaking struggle to get the answer of one common question- “How can I remove errors in my English?” Though the answer is not as straight forward as it might seem, we can reach to some consensus after the end of this piece.
In this spoken English Course session Vinit sir will teach different concepts of non-finites in a practical way.
Non-finites cause a lot of problems to the learners of English speaking. These are four in number- Infinitive, Gerund, Present Participle & Past Participle. We will deal with them in a separate piece but here we will introduce you some parts of speech which confuse every learner while talking in English. We have given these parts of speech with meaning & examples. It’s important that the learner practices each part of speech by using it in different sentences & speaking the sentences aloud.
If English is not your first language, you would have made efforts to learn English different ways. Whatever way you try to learn it, one thing remains common which is laying a foundation. And if grammar is the foundation of English, parts of speech are the building blocks.
Learning parts of speech or knowing their definition is not enough; you should try to learn the art of applying it in your English. And the practical application of parts of speech goes a long way in making someone a fluent speaker of English. Application of non-finites is an art & a science &, therefore, it requires a lot of practice.
One good way of learning parts of speech is finding them in a sentence & newspaper can be a very good source of some complex sentences in English. A learner should aim at finding parts of speech in minimum ten sentences of English & should also know the logic of naming them. There are many words in English which can play the role of different parts of speech. A learner should know what role it is playing in a particular sentence.
If you want to build a tall building, it’s important that you construct a strong foundation. And if you want to speak fluent English, it’s imperative that you learn parts of speech; and, more importantly, how to apply parts of speech while talking in English. And, it’s not about knowing only eight parts of speech but also some other which are formed by combining different words & also changed parts of speech like non-finites.
Now that you have learned these, it is advisable that you start using these and try to find these in different articles that you read in newspaper. Recognizing parts of speech in different pieces in newspaper will provide you with much practice & make your foundation of English strong.
