Reviving a Weird Ortholinear EPOS Keyboard (PrehKeyTec MC 128 WX)

This is an old EPOS keyboard that I bought as 'spares/repair' - it's missing a proprietary cable - I originally wanted it just for the keycaps, to use on my fake dumb terminal (link below), but can I get it working? Can this be put to any use as a keyboard in its own right? There are some challenges to overcome...
