Overlooked, Forgotten, & Blatantly Ignored—Gentle Warrior Left To Deteriorate More Each Day
Published at : September 25, 2021
He didn't have a name. No one ever cared enough to give him one. And the few people who did actually notice him saw him as nothing more than an eyesore.
The horrors Professor Matthew has faced are overwhelmingly blatant: He is understandably terrified, and so, so weak. His body is riddled with diseases, and his soul is broken from extreme neglect. There is a serious infection ravaging his skin, with bacteria coating his frail little frame. He’s absolutely crawling in ticks, fleas, and parasites, and he had flies swarming around his body. He went each day in agony, left to suffer his nightmare alone. No one came looking for him; no one offered help.—Until now.
After going YEARS without a name, without a home, and without love, this gentle boy’s finally got some people working to show him otherwise. — Rescuers of the At-Choo Foundation, who immediately stepped up to fight for Professor Matthew's life. But there’s no denying it: He is facing quite a daunting recovery journey ahead of him, which started with his emergency hospitalization.
Today, Professor Matthew is going on Day #4 of 24/7, round-the-clock care. He needed immediate treatment for ticks, fleas, and parasites, and his skin and fur got some serious TLC. (Sadly, snap tests have already confirmed that he is positive for both tick-borne diseases, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis.) And once his condition stabilizes, he will be looking at X-rays and multiple rounds of bloodwork and diagnostics. At this point, however, this poor boy is understandably too weak to undergo any of the extensive treatments needed.
For now, Professor Matthew remains on IV fluids, heavy pain medicine, and antibiotics in the ER. But if there's one thing we do know, it's that this boy is one TOUGH cookie. Professor Mattew is strong and he is resilient, and now he's got his army behind him—fighting with (and for) him every step of the way.
Please keep this special man in your prayers, and if you can, please consider donating to his ongoing medical care. We will update everyone as soon as we know more. Thank you so much.
