If you need a step-up in specifications from your old monitor and the reassurance and quality of a well-known brand, you've got it. The Dell UltraSharp U2419H isn't the most affordable 24-inch monitor, but it gives photographers good value for its performance. This display has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a 60 Hz refresh rate, In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, support for 16.7 million colors, an average calibration Delta-E color accuracy under 2, a 16:9 aspect ratio, an anti-glare coating with a 3H hardness rating, a static contrast ratio of 1000:1, a typical brightness level of 250 candela per square meter, an 8 ms response time in normal mode, and a 5 ms response time in fast mode. With it's 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles, it's possible to watch content from virtually any position. It comes with DisplayPort and HDMI 1.4 inputs which both support HDCP 1.4, a DisplayPort output with HDCP 1.4 for connecting an MST (multi-stream transport) display, four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two of which support battery charging up to 2A, and a USB 3.0 Type-B port to connect it to your host system.

The excellent 27-inch LG 27UL500-W may seem pricey compared to budget screens you see in a computer store, but if you can afford dropping the extra cash, it's well worth it. The 4K resolution is perfect for photographers, and the Color Calibration Pro tool boosts the color accuracy of the monitor, vital for anyone looking for a high-end photography supporting image at a competitive price. It's made with an IPS panel for broad viewing angles and vivid colors, and is factory color-calibrated to guarantee accurate colors. Specs-wise, it has a 3840 x 2160 4K UHD resolution, a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, a 300 candela per square meter brightness, and support for up to 1.07 billion colors. With its AMD Radeon FreeSync technology, you'll be able to enjoy a fluid gaming experience, free from screen tearing, stuttering, and ghosting. With a slimline design and a slender crescent-shaped silver base, the LG 27UL500-W makes most desktop monitors look relatively clunky. The only real compromise is that while the screen stand includes tilt, height, and pivot functionality, there's no swivel mechanism built into the base.

The Asus ProArt Display PA278QV monitor isn't the sexiest looking display due to its practical design, but its true beauty is on the inside. The 27-inch display doesn't just utilize IPS screen tech, it's also able to display nearly 100% of the sRGB and Rec. 709 color spaces. What's more, its factory color-calibrated Delta-E under 2 color accuracy guarantees spot-on colors right out of the box. However, it can't display a broad color gamut, and doesn't support HDR. Despite the monitor's office tech looking design, it still has good gaming performance due to a swift response time, Adaptive-Sync support, and a 75Hz refresh rate that makes quick motion look a bit more fluid. Sadly, it has a low contrast ratio and mediocre black uniformity, expected of most IPS panels. But on the bright side, it hosts a generous number of USB ports and even a couple of built-in speakers. In all, this monitor's superb ergonomics, high peak brightness, and broad viewing angles make it an ideal fit for almost any type of workspace.
